Letchworth Garden City Town Centre’s £8m redevelopment scheme was praised last week for protecting the viability of its high street, being described as a beacon for place making by judges at the Regeneration & Renewal Awards.

The Salvation Army were amongst the winners at the Garden City Heritage Awards last night (Wednesday 6 April), which celebrated architectural best practice of alterations and new builds in Letchworth Garden City. The Army’s replacement hall on Norton Way South was hailed for its sympathetic design and good detailing.

Volunteering fun at festival

Last weekend, registered charity, the League of Friends and members of the Heritage Foundation took part in Letchworth Arts Centre's WW2 festival, inviting visitors to play the classic family game of ‘Beetle Drive’ on Broadway Gardens, raising awareness for the Ernest Gardiner Day Hospital.
