Over 1,200 runners took part in the 24th annual Standalone 10k road race last Sunday (2 October) in glorious sunshine. The race follows an anticlockwise route around the north of Letchworth’s estate and attracted running teams from across the region as well as many people form the local community. A shorter 2k fun run followed for children to participate.
Last Wednesday (2 March), independent sports retailer Trisports held an official opening to celebrate its relocation to larger premises within Letchworth Garden City.
This May, the Garden City Greenway will host its very first half marathon to celebrate the North Herts Road Runners’ Silver Jubilee.

A former Olympic Silver Medallist, World Champion and World Record holder graced the stage at the recent Heritage Foundation’s Sports Clubs Dinner in the Spirella Ballroom.
Guest of honour and former top flight hurdler Colin Jackson addressed an audience of Garden City Sports Clubs and other invited guests and focussed on the importance of grass roots sport. As well as sharing the highlights of an illustrious career as one of Great Britain’s premier athletes of all time, Colin answered a range of questions from the audience.
