10 reasons to look forward to 2012
Ok, so here comes 2012. Forget the January blues, here's our compilation of ten things for you to look forward to throughout the year, enjoy!
1. New club directory hits Letchworth
Look out for our new community directory giving you ideas for new hobbies and activities, available in late January. Pick yours up at Letchworth’s Tourist Information Centre at 33-35 Station Road. More information here
2. Standalone Farm opens
Start your spring with the sights and sounds of newborn lambs at Letchworth’s very own educational farm open from 1 March. More information on the Tourist Information Centre's website
3. Spirella celebrates 100 years
Our First Garden City Heritage Museum kicks off the centenary celebrations with a year-long exhibition opening on 26 March. With plenty of stories from the 'Healthy happy workers' to the fascinating architecture, this is an exhibition worth visiting! Keep up-to-date on the museum’s Facebook and Twitter pages. 4. Garden City Meeting
Come along to find out what’s been happening over the past year and ask questions about the future activities at our annual public meeting. Date of the meeting is yet to be confirmed, visit our website, follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook to keep in-the-loop.
5. Olympic torch comes to Letchworth
We are one of over 1,000 villages to host the torch, which visits us on 8 July 2012. Read more on the District Council’s website
6. Festival season
There is a vibrant selection of festivals to hit Letchworth Town Centre during the summer months. Check out their website for confirmed dates nearer the time.
7. Big plans for the town centre take shape…
Following the first two phases of the Town Centre Consultation, an exhibition for the final phase is due for a late April launch. Keep updated at the Next Steps website or via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
8. Heritage Open Days
This national event, celebrating England’s fantastic architecture and culture between 6 – 9 September, will see Letchworth open its civic buildings to the public. More information on the Heritage Open Days website.
9. Standalone 10k
This popular road race attracts over 1,200 runners and usually takes places first week in October. If you are able to keep those New Years resolutions up, why not enter the S10k this year? Keep an eye on the North Herts Road Runners website for details

10. Christmas Lights Switch On
The decorations aren’t even off the tree yet and we’re talking about next year already! Letchworth Town Centre Partnership will certainly put on another great show in late November so look out for this on their website.
