£35,000 grant

Howard Cottage Housing Association has just received a £35,000 grant from Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation to fund a Home Support worker for the elderly in the world’s first Garden City.

The scheme primarily helps people in the Garden City living in owner occupied  or privately rented properties to maintain independence in their homes, by providing safety checks, gardening, bathroom adaptations – a wide range of practical help and also advice on benefits, all forms of ‘paperwork’ etc.

Other grants approved by the Foundation Board and the Small Grants Committee in January included:

• £32,242 to North Herts & District Citizens Advice Bureau towards continued staffing costs
• £250 to Letchworth Sinfonia towards its New Year Concert
• £435 to Letchworth Short Mat Bowls Club for new club shirts
• £600 to City Chorus towards music books and T-shirts for this new community singing group
• £250 to RHAPSODE towards a two day music and drama workshop
