Life in the Garden City…
The 2009 Garden City Meeting
From the new Town Centre re-development to Design Standards and ‘green’ sustainable issues etc.. – many subjects on life in the world’s first Garden City were discussed at the Annual Garden City Meeting, in the Spirella Ballroom last Thursday.
Around 170 people heard two keynote speeches on a review of the last 12 months and the Foundation’s plans for the future– one from Stuart Kenny, Director General of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation and the other by Foundation Chairman Alan Scouller.
Then followed an hour long ‘Question Time’ session, run on the lines of the BBC programme, with the panel of Mr Kenny and Mr Scouller unaware of the content of the questions from the floor, other than a few submitted in writing beforehand.
Of the meeting, Mr Kenny said afterwards: “I was pleased to see such a healthy attendance. It was also encouraging that so many people present appeared to be enthused by what the Foundation had achieved and perhaps more particularly, our exciting plans for the future.”
