Help on its way

Community Grants

The North Herts & District Citizens Advice Bureau, Letchworth Garden City Salvation Army, Relate and ‘Voice of the Homeless’ are just four organisations that have recently received grant aid from Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.

  • £31,455 has been awarded to the very busy North Herts & District Citizens Advice Bureau to help with staffing costs
  • £50,000 has been granted to the Letchworth Garden City Salvation Army towards the costs of a new community hall
  • £4,900 to Relate North Herts & Stevenage to help 35 Letchworth Garden City families who require family and couple counselling support through Relate
  • £4,764 for the newly-formed ‘Voice of the Homeless’ to support the Garden City’s homeless. The organisation provides mentoring, advocacy and befriending to the over 18’s who are, or have been homeless, or who are on the verge of homelessness.

Stuart Kenny, Director General of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, said: “In the last financial year, the Foundation has been able to give away over £388,000 in the form of direct grants to clubs, organisations, societies and individuals and we have been very pleased to do so.

“ I am particularly pleased that, in such difficult times, we have been able to offer substantial support to the Salvation Army and the CAB, both of whom do immensely valuable work in caring for those in need.

“In our last Financial Year, a total of £3.3m was spent by the Foundation in the form of charitable activities for direct and indirect grants, the latter being for running and managing enterprises, including the Ernest Gardiner Day Hospital, the Plinston, the Minibus Service, the Tourist Information Centre and the First Garden City Heritage Museum.”
