A Voluntary Success!

Around 700 visitors 'got involved' last weekend, when they attended the second North Hertfordshire Volunteers Fair – a two-day event held at two venues in the world's first Garden City.
Organised by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, who also sponsored the event along with North Herts Council for Voluntary Services and North Hertfordshire College, the aptly titled ‘Get Involved’ Fair attracted over 60 stallholders to the Plinston and the Goldsmith Centre, both on Broadway.
The stallholders – representing a diverse range of voluntary clubs/organisations in the area – were able to showcase their own society and embark on a ready-made recruitment drive.
Stuart Kenny, the Foundation's Director General, said: "Once again the event was a great success, reinforcing the important role that the voluntary sector plays in our community."
"The Fair offered local clubs and societies the opportunity to recruit new members and in some cases, new customers, at a time when, nationally, there appears to be a haemorrhaging of voluntary effort."
