Festival Fun for Everyone!

Continental Market at LGC Festival 2006

The world’s first Garden City came alive on Saturday July 22nd, with live music, a vibrant continental market and a host of community stalls at the Letchworth Garden City Festival in the town centre.

Festival goers of all ages were treated to a variety of entertainment from music to the arts, to street performers and shopping.

Organised by Rap-Aid and the Town Centre Partnership, with support from North Hertfordshire District Council and Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, the festival was an unrivalled success.

Broadway Gardens took the central role, playing host to live music and fairground rides, providing entertainment from 11am into the evening. The Continental Market filled Eastcheap with a wash of colour and International flags as visitors purchased luxuries from across Europe.

“Congratulations to Rap-Aid for organising such a first-class event,” said Foundation Director, Alan Howard. “It was wonderful to see so many people in Broadway Gardens enjoying the music and the sunshine.”

"The Town Centre Partnership’s excellent Continental Market along Eastcheap was a huge hit with the public too. A great day out for local people in the Garden City!”
