Pupils to showcase talent
Over 450 Garden City school pupils are expected to perform next month in an annual showcase of their musical and dance talents.
'Celebrations of Schools Music' - funded and organised by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation since 1997 - takes place at the Plinston, Broadway, from Monday 7 March to Thursday 10 March, inclusive.
All of the 16 primary schools in Letchworth Garden City are participating in the festival. There are matinee and evening performances, with tickets costing £1.50 and £1 (concessions) each, and £3 and £2 respectively, with under fives allowed in for free at the matinee performances. Tickets are available at the Plinston's Box Office or by ringing 01462 672003.
"This annual event is a real winner for Letchworth Garden City schools and the town in so many ways. After the festival is over, the ticket money is evenly distributed between the schools for them to use how they see fit," says Stuart Kenny, the Heritage Foundation's Director General.
Alastair Stewart, the Foundation's Education Liaison Officer, will be the Master of Ceremonies at the performances. Pictured 'singing their hearts out' are pupils at last year's 'Celebration of Music.'
