Lorna Kercher was the original Deputy for the North Hertfordshire District Council on the Heritage Foundation's Board of Management and Governors.

She was subsequently elected as a Governor in the second town-wide ballot for elected appointments to the Heritage Foundation, which took place in summer 2000. She was nominated and elected to the Board of Management at the Heritage Foundation's 2002 AGM.

She is a Councillor for the Letchworth East ward on North Hertfordshire District Council; Chairman of the Financial Scruity Sub-Committee for North Hertfordshire District Council; Chairman of the Executive for Howard Garden Social Centre and Chairman of the 50+ Forum.

Her interests include education, social welfare and community affairs.
