The People
A Director General and a team of Executive Directors (Property, Finance, and Marketing & PR) lead the Heritage Foundation.
The Heritage Foundation employs 157 staff (staff numbers to 30 September 2006) from a wide range of professions including surveyors, accountants, marketers, nurses, farm workers, foresters, cinema operatives, bar and catering staff. Working to an annual Business Plan, the Heritage Foundation's financial year runs from 1st October to 30th September.
The Directors report to a Board of Management, which consists of eight people including a representative of each of the two local authorities which operate in Letchworth Garden City - North Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council.
The remaining six are all Governors of the Heritage Foundation and are elected to sit on the Board by their fellow Governors. The Board elects a Chairman from its own number. Click here to 'meet the Board'.
The Governors are involved in helping to shape future policy, acting as a conduit with the local community and as a 'sounding board' for the Directors and the Board. They are effectively the 'shareholders' .
