The Role of Governors
The Governors are effectively the shareholders with one share each, but cannot sell their shares. Their role is crucial in making appointments, from their own number, to the Heritage Foundation's Board of Management.
They are volunteers and do not get paid for what they do for the organisation. They attend at least five meetings a year including the Heritage Foundation's Annual General Meeting and the annual town public gathering - the Garden City Meeting.
They have a substantial voice in shaping the future of the world's first Garden City and are among the first to be consulted on major new initiatives and provide an invaluable link with the Letchworth community.
They have a positive affinity to the Garden City, identifying strongly with the Heritage Foundation and its objectives. They often possess special skills, such as business, finance, property or the commercial world.
Governors serve on Foundation committees and represent the Foundation on external bodies and organisations.
