Alan Howard joined the Heritage Foundation in February 1996, became its first Director of Marketing & PR in August 1999 and took on responsibility for the Foundation's community grants in March 2004.

His department, which includes the Tourist Information Centre, led the Heritage Foundation's contribution for the Garden City's Centenary celebrations throughout 2003.

Raised in Letchworth Garden City, his earlier career includes eight years promoting land and property sales in the 21 English new towns for CNT, The Commission for the New Towns, (now English Partnerships) and four years in the corporate television and new media industries.

A member of the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Association of Town Centre Management, Alan also represents the Foundation on the Letchworth Garden City Town Centre Partnership.
